Principal Weber's Opening Message:

Dear Parents and Guardians,

On behalf of all our staff, I welcome you to the 2018-2019 school year. President Avenue has a tradition of excellence, and I am honored to serve at such a superb school. I look forward to meeting and working closely with you to ensure we provide your children an excellent education in the new year.

Our Instructional Coach, Mrs. Marisa Harrod, has been promoted to an Assistant Principal, EIS position in Local District South. We are so proud of her and will miss her tremendously. We welcome Sunhee Hampton as our new Instructional Coach. We also welcome Mr. Charles Cho, our newly assigned Assistant Principal, EIS, Mr. Rudy Lopez, our new Dual Language Program kindergarten teacher, Mrs. Kelly Komatinsky, our new Primary SLD teacher, and Silvia Zamora, our new Teacher’s Assistant to support technology and the Early Language Literacy Program. Our new staff member’s experience, knowledge and skill set will serve them well in fulfilling the duties and responsibilities of their positions.

For the 2018-2019 school year every Tuesday will be early release. To make up the additional instructional time, our bell schedule will change slightly:

            Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday:          8:00 a.m. – 2:28 p.m.

            Tuesday:                                                           8:00 a.m. – 1:28 p.m.

            Minimum Day Schedule:                                 8:00 a.m. – 12:48 p.m.

            Shortened Day Schedule:                                 8:00 a.m. – 1:53 p.m.

Both the school and home share the responsibility of educating children. President Avenue Elementary School staff and I will foster a school environment that is welcoming to both students and families. Your active involvement and participation in your child’s education is important and contributes to making the school year successful for our students. You are invited to attend, visit, and participate in School Advisory Council Meetings (LSLC, SSC, ELAC), Parent Education classes/workshops, Parent-Teacher Conferences, Open House, and other special school events. These activities provide opportunities for meaningful communication between you and the school, and they serve to update you on the role you can play in your child’s education. As Principal, please know that the staff and I will continue to create a school culture and atmosphere that welcomes students and families. I want you to feel at home on our beautiful campus.

In our continued partnership in growth and learning, I hope to serve and support you by fostering an environment that embraces diversity and celebrates all cultures.  I look forward to the new school year, and the limitless possibilities ahead of us.  I know that today’s possibilities can become tomorrow’s realities and together we can make a difference.

Charity D. Weber
