Principal's Message

Dear President Avenue Families,

On behalf of all our staff, I welcome you to the 2020-2021 school year. I am looking forward to a continued partnership with you to ensure your child has access to all the necessary support from both home and school. For those of you new to us, WELCOME TO PRESIDENT! Now more than ever we will work together as partners in your child's education.

Fundamental to being a successful principal is to be an instructional leader and to build capacity among one's team. My experience as an instructional math coach, advisor, and Math Coordinator in Local District South provided me with the skill set to support teachers in deepening their understanding of instructional strategies to refine pedagogy and, ultimately, improve student learning.

But even the best strategies and practices go only so far by themselves. Clear and high expectations for all students, the need for academic rigor in the classroom, sensitivity towards individual learning styles, and making students, teachers, and parents equal partners in the learning process are imperative.

My commitment to the President Avenue community is to continue to work side by side with staff, students and parents to provide the best possible education for our students. We have accomplished many things together so far, but we are just getting started!

President Avenue is a beautiful school! Over the years, the teachers of President Avenue have written many grants for the beautiful murals, gardens and trees around our campus. Even though we cannot enjoy our beautiful campus together YET, I want to ensure you that we are here every day taking care of our school preparing it for the return of our students. Not only are we taking care of our school, but we are working hard to make improvements as well. I encourage you to drive by our school to see the improvements being made while students are learning online. We can't wait for them to return and want our school to look it's best for them when they do!

Please follow our school Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/presaveel and our website at http://presidentavees-lausd-ca.schoolloop.com for updates and important announcements.

It is an honor and privilege to be your school principal and I look forward to the start of the new school year.

Sincerely,

Charity D. Weber, Principal
